City leaders announced on Friday that the deputy mayor of operations, Michelle L. Thomas, resigned.
Thomas only cited "personal reasons" for her departure.
Thomas managed several departments in her position, which included Historic Districts Landmarks Commission, New Orleans Recreation Development Commission, Parks & Parkways, Safety & Permits, Sanitation, Taxicab Bureau, the Vieux Carre Commission and the One Stop Shop for permitting. ??
Thomas was hired in July 2011.?
?Michelle served the people of New Orleans well, and we wish her nothing but success," New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said in a news release."I want to thank her for her service, especially for her work to transform the taxicab industry, improve recreational opportunities for our kids, enhance special event and Mardi Gras clean-up operations, and improve customer service by implementing the One Stop Shop for permitting.?
Andy Kopplin, first deputy mayor and chief administrative officer, will oversee the departments that previously reported to Thomas on an interim basis.?
