MUSIC that?s closer to home.
That?s what you can expect tomorrow from Kate Denny when she plays Huddersfield?s Cellar Folk, based at the Lawrence Batley Theatre.
Kate initially wrote music and songs for theatre before turning to creating music for and performing on the British folk circuit for 10 years.
She became best known as composer, singer and fiddle player for the folk trio The Kittiwakes.
Now Kate has launched her debut solo album Closer to Home and is touring with some of its beautiful and highly personal songs.
The album has been described as a fine homage to family life and home.
The songs centre on people and issues associated with home, including a moving lament to Kate's late sister-in-law plus a story of a 19-year-old WWI casualty, who just happened to be Kate?s great uncle.
Kate?s gig at the LBT?s Syngenta Cellar space tomorrow (March 23 at 8pm) is part of the theatre?s new folk series by local trio Cheating At The Gallows.
They are Inda Williams, Mark Whyatt ? who currently helps run Enoch?s Hammer Folk Club ? and Terry Armitage.
Tickets for Kate?s LBT gig can be booked at the box office on 01484 430528 or online at www.thelbt.org.
