Huntsman Offers Alternatives for Voters Seeking Answers on Economy, China (ContributorNetwork)

COMMENTARY | Two of the hot-button issues this election are the economy and corporate greed. The Occupy protests across the country have drawn attention to this increasing concern. According to The Occupy Together movement, "Global civil society is being threatened by a system based on power and not on human values. Day after day it represses basic freedoms and consistently favors the greed of the few over the needs of the many."

Even the entertainment industry is capitalizing on corporate failure and greed as is depicted in the movie "The Company Men." New Hampshire has until its Jan. 12 primary to find its Republican candidate. Which Republican candidate can bring equity to this country? Perhaps it's Jon Huntsman.

I discovered Huntsman has a philosophical record of cutting loopholes for corporations. He also thinks the United States needs to stop, by reforming tax code, the subsidizing of corporations. Huntsman also proposes a flat tax to corporations of 25 percent, eliminating the ability of lobbyists to influence the legal process.

Huntsman, the former governor of Utah, was also President Barack Obama's ambassador to China for two years. His experience there can only help him on the world stage as China is increasingly taking business from the United States. Huntsman recently caused a stir by stating that China's fear is that the U.S. can entirely destroy China economically with one swipe of the presidential pen via a massive devaluation of the U.S. dollar or repegging to gold. Huntsman understands China's intent and that alone sets him above the other candidates on foreign policy and business.

Job creation is probably the hottest of political buttons, as it is so near and dear to many unemployed constituents' heart, stated Huntsman during a recent N.H. debate. Huntsman stands by his claims that his flat tax was the main causal effect attributing to Utah's low unemployment rate, though it is widely accepted that he did not create a true flat tax but a flatter tax. Never the less job growth and low unemployment resulted from the time frame the Huntsman was governor.
